L'Oreal Caresse lipstick in Rebel Red

Hello darlings! Today I have another lippie for you - L'Oreal Caresse lipstick. Now these lipsticks have been around for quite some time but I discovered them only a month or so ago. I did some swatches in the store and loved their formula but decided I didn't need another lipstick (or was I broke, I can't remember which one was it...). :) Unfortunately though, I stumbled across one of Essie's (essiebutton) videos on YouTube where she talked about her favorite drugstore lipstick and would you know it... these were one of them. Of course I had to go and get them the next day. :)

I wanted a sheer red lipstick and this one in the shade Rebel Red is probably one of the sheerest you'll get (not that I've tried a bunch or anything). It's very sheer and doesn't even look red when you do a swatch. It actually doesn't look red on the lips as well... but it does give a red-pink tint to them, just enough so you can notice the red... and I do like that. However it does have an interesting formula - it's very glossy and it applies really interestingly. It seems to stick more to dry skin on the lips and kind of 'bleeds' into the fine lines, so I would definitely recommend you give your lips a proper scrub before applying this lipstick.

Even though it does apply kind of strange, it actually doesn't look bad at all in person. You can notice it's more opaque in some parts than others, only if you look really, really closely. I'll have to do a FOTD with it soon, so you'll be able to see how it looks from a distance. What's also interesting is that the formula of this particular shade seems to be different than the other shades - I also have it in Tempting Lilac and that shade is very creamy and opaque... :) The glossy formula does make it very comfortable to wear, even though I wouldn't necessarily say it's a moisturizing lipstick, it just doesn't dry out your lips.

I know it probably looks really strange on the pictures above, but I swear it looks perfectly fine in real life and I have to say I really like wearing it. It's one of those lipsticks that can instantly make you look put together, without the constant need for touch-ups - you can just pull it out of your makeup bag, swipe it on and you're good to go.

The price is quite high for a drugstore lipstick - around 10 € (I've seen it's around 13 € in some drugstores), but it is a nice lipstick and I think I'll be picking up a shade or two more. :)
