100% Pure: Maracuja Oil maskara

13. junij 2016

*L'Oreal False Lash Wings Intenza mascara: review & look

10. april 2015

Hello darlings! Today I'd like to talk to you about a lovely mascara I got for review purposes and also had the pleasure of using it to create a makeup look for a Facebook competition - L'Oreal False Lash Wings Intenza. It's been quite a while since I used a drugstore mascara (due to the fact that I fell in love with my Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara), so I was excited to try this one out and see how it performs.

The first thing I noticed about this mascara was the amazing packaging and the intriguing brush it came with. I am a big fan of plastic brushes, so I was immediately hopeful that this would work great for my short, sparse lashes. I'm not too picky when it comes to formula - the only thing I expect of it, is for it to not be too liquidy or too dry, so something in between (something that makes application easy and not messy). The formula of this mascara did not disappoint and I have a feeling it will get even better as it get's 'worn-in' (a tiny bit drier is what I really mean). :)

The mascara applies beautifully and gives great length to my tiny lashes (as you can hopefully see from the 'before-after' picture bellow). It's not huge on volume but it gives a decent amount of it, that's for sure. The formula along with the awesome brush, coats each and every lash perfectly without sticking them together and creating a clumpy mess. I also found it to work great with my bottom lashes as it doesn't smudge all over my lower lash line/under eye area.

It didn't bother my sensitive eyes and it managed to stay put without smudging or flaking throughout the day. I didn't find it to be too hard to remove - I think your typical eye makeup remover will do the job.

And last but not least... here's the makeup look I created using this mascara. I was feeling a pink-cranberry vibe for my eyes, so I used my Sleek Storm palette (a combination of the two pink shades) and my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette (Cherry Cordial, Champagne Truffle - for highlighting). The foundation I used was from Vichy - Teint Ideal, I then powdered my t-zone with Urban Decay's De-Slick mattifiying powder and used a bit of Too Faced Chocolate Soleil (Milk Chocolate) bronzer. I opted for natural lips, so I applied a bit of Urban Decay's Revolution lipstick in Naked and put a tiny amount of Clarins' Natural Lip perfector (in 05) on top of it. And that's it!

Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara

3. julij 2014

Hello darlings! Today I'd like to talk to you about my new favorite mascara - Too Faced Better Than Sex (what a name, huh?). I've been wanting to try out this mascara for sooo long and finally decided to get it last month when Look Fantastic had a 20% off voucher code going on. :)

Even though I did my research before getting it and the majority (if not all) reviews were extremely positive, I was still a bit afraid this mascara was going to be a let down - in general my tiny, short, almost blond lashes tend to respond best to mascaras with plastic wands/brushes/bristles and the ones with 'natural' bristles tend to clump and stick them together. I do like the look of long, thick lashes, but I absolutely despise mascaras that clump your lashes and give you that horrible 'spider legs' look.

This mascara can clump a tiny bit (as you may or may not get from the pictures bellow), but not in bad way - it just seems to thicken every single lash. I really like the brush - it's has an hour glass shape and a mixture of different sized bristles. The application is fine, but I will tell you that I take my time when applying it - it's not a mascara you just 'slather' on and run out the door, you really need to take a bit of time and make sure to apply it nicely, then you get the most amazing results.

The packaging is obviously gorgeous (at least in my eyes) and feels very luxurios - the 'casing' is made from some kind of metal, because it acutally feels heavy in your hand. I love it! :)

The formula is just right - not too wet nor too dry and it doesn't smear or flake off during the day (I have worn it for over 12 hours). It's very nice to wear and does not irritate my eyes and it's also surprisingly easy to remove (but I always use a heavy duty makeup remover like Cleanse&Polish or Clarins' Pure Melt gel).

I also find that the formula is super black - I thought Maybelline's The Rocket was super black, but compared to this one, it looks almost gray - as you can actually see in the first picture bellow, because I used The Rocket on my bottom lashes. And that's one thing (among two) that I'm not really fond of with this mascara - because of the way the brush is shaped and how large it is, I find it very difficult to apply it to my bottom lashes, without making a mess. The second thing that bothers me a bit is that it tends to transfer on the lid when applying it (you know when you do an awesome makeup look and then apply mascara and suddenly your eyeshadows have black dots all over them? I hate that!). But it's nothing a little reapplying of the eyeshadows can't fix. :)

I used two coats on the pictures bellow and I think my lashes look amazing - you might not, but for me these really are awesome results. :)

All in all I think this mascara is amazing! It's definitely NOT better than sex, but it is the best mascara I have ever used and I'll be repurchasing it very soon (or at least buy a back up). I got it on Look Fantastic for 19 €, but the full price is around 24-25 € - yes, it's not a cheap mascara, but I truly believe it's worth every cent.

What are your thoughts on it, would you like to try it out?

Maybelline Great Lash mascara

7. april 2014

Hello my lovelies! Today I'll be reviewing a mascara for you - Maybelline's Great Lash in Blackest Black. I got it back in December, it was in a set with The Rocket, which was the reason I got the set in the first place but I also wanted to try this one, again. :)

This mascara brings back so many memories because it was the first mascara I ever bought/used. It hasn't changed over the years, though there are a few variations of it available now (which I haven't seen in our stores). Actually, I haven't seen this mascara being sold separately anymore - do let me know, if it's still available.

I absolutely love the ridiculously cute packaging though I can imagine a lot of people wouldn't like it. I don't know, there's just something about the combination of pink and green that works for me and the fact that it's a bit smaller and a tiny bit bulkier than your typical mascara. The wand however is another story... I'm not a real fan of it. It's quite small but that's not the problem, the problem is its shape - it doesn't have separate 'bristles', everything is kind of in one piece, a spiral. Because of this shape it doesn't separate the lashes quite as well as I'd like it to and it certainly doesn't give enough volume or length. It does however define the lashes and make them really black, but it gives more of a natural effect in my opinion. The application is not difficult but I find that I can't apply it without getting some of it on my lid or somewhere where it shouldn't go. :) It's not ideal, but nothing a bit of makeup remover on a cotton bud can't fix.

Left: one coat                                                       Right: two coats

It's a nice mascara, it doesn't irritate my eyes and I haven't noticed it smudging on me throughout the day. I think I'll still use this mascara from time to time, it's just fun for me because I feel 13 again when I use it... but it's not a mascara I would keep on repurchasing. My tiny, sparse lashes need something that's a little bit more effective. :)

What do you think of this mascara, love it hate it or haven't tried it yet?

BATTLE OF THE MASCARAS: Maybelline

13. september 2013

Hello lovelies! Today I have a pretty huge post for you - a battle of Maybelline mascaras. I purchased a few over these past months and tested them out. Here are my thoughts...

Let's start with the Mega Plush, shall we? :) This was the first one I bought. It's actually not available in our drugstores (don't know why that is), I bought it on Feelunique.com. I was in need of a new mascara and this one looked really interesting. I really haven't been disappointed with Maybelline mascaras before, so I went ahead and got it. I paid 8.49 € for it, so it's not the cheapest of mascaras, but most of Maybelline mascaras are around the 10 € mark and I don't mind paying that kind of money, if it's a good product. :) So... let's get to the review part - I'll make it short and sweet, letting you know the good and the bad.

The good...
+ the packaging (I like the beautiful turqoize color paired with the pink/purple writing)
+ the formula (it's supposed to have a mousse-like formula so it's really light on the lashes, you barely feel anything and it keeps the lashes really soft, no crunchy feeling)
+ the brush (I like fat, fluffy brushes with a lot of little bristles; this brush does a great job at separating the lashes and giving them lots of length and volume)

The bad...
- I'm not a huge fan of the 'flexible joint' on the wand, I don't think it does anything, I would prefer, if it was solid all the way

The next mascara is the Colossal Smokey eyes mascara. It's basically the same as the 'original' Colossal which I had some time ago. I don't really see the difference between them and the brush is exactly the same. I did like the original and I also like this version. I got it because it was on sale for around 7 € and I wanted to see, if it was any different.

The good...
+ I like the packaging
+ I like the brush (it does a great job at separating, lengthening and adding volume to the lashes)
+ I like the formula, but... I'm afraid the same thing will happen as it did with the original version - it started to irritate my eyes after a while

The bad...
- I'm really not fond of the scent, it has the same scent as the original (it's supposed to smell like roses or something, but it has an awful chemical scent)

Last but not least is the One by One mascara. I was really interested in this one because no one seemed to be talking about it. I was planing on getting the Rocket but I went for this one instead, purely because the Rocket has been reviewed like a thousand times already and I haven't seen a lot of reviews for this mascara. It actually turned out to be the best out of the three. I don't exactly remember the price, but I think it was around 8-9 €.

The good...
+ again, I like the packaging
+ I like the brush (I really like plastic brushes, they can be awesome at separating the lashes and this one is no exception)
+ I like the formula, it doesn't seem to have a particual scent and it does not feel too heavy on the lashes or make them crunchy
+ it has an interestingly shaped wand (not that that matters)

The bad...
Can't think of anything bad actually. I hope it doesn't start to irritate my eyes in the future... :D

Bellow are some photos so you can see how they look on my lashes. I curled my lashes before applying all three mascaras, so the bottom photo shows curled lashes and one coat of each mascara. Don't mind the left eye (your right) of the Colossal mascara - my eye teared up a bit whilst I was applying it so the lashes kind of fell down a stuck together a bit, it wasn't the mascaras fault, it was mine. :)

And here's how my lashes look when I apply a second coat...

A summary of all three mascaras:

I like all three mascaras and I would recommend all of them. I love the Mega Plush because it has an awesome light-weight formula that feels great on the lashes - like you don't have any mascara on them at all. The lashes remain soft and never get crunchy. But... I think that out of the three, this one is the hardest to build up - I feel like I had the hardest time with this one whilst applying a second coat. The Colossal mascara is the most lengthening out of the three and it builds nicely. The One by One really defines the lashes and in my opinion is the easiest to build up (probably due to the plastic brush). I feel like the second coat of this mascara looked the best, compared to the other two. I think it really makes the lashes look full and gives them a great deep black color, more intense then the other two. I didn't find any of these three mascaras to smudge around my eyes or clump the lashes together. As far as removing goes, they were all pretty easy to remove, the Mega Plush being the easiest and the One by One the hardest.

So what do you think, which one looks the best to you? Have you tried any of these mascaras? Which is your favorite mascara? :)
