My current skin care routine

20. december 2013

Hello my lovelies! :) Today I thought I would share my current skin care routine with you or better yet, my skin care products and how I use them (I don't really have a skin care routine, I'm too lazy for that). :) So these are the products I'm currently using. I try to be good and cleanse my face every evening (I don't usually cleanse in the morning, except if I'm going somewhere and I'll be putting makeup on). I am pretty good with masks, I use them once a week and I always cleanse my face when I'm in the shower, so I'm not THAT bad with my skin care... I just don't do the whole morning/evening cleanser, toner, moisturizer thing. But enough of this jibber-jabber... let's get to the products, shall we? :)

L'Oreal Skin Perfection Micellar solution - this is the current micellar water I'm using and I really like. I don't use micelar waters to take off a full face of makeup (I feel you need a proper makeup remover for that), I use it to take off my makeup, if I'm wearing just eye makeup, or little makeup in general (like a light mineral powder foundation, stuff like that). I also like to use it on a cotton bud to clean up mascara, eyeshadow fallout, lipstick... when I'm doing my makeup. And I will carry this with me, if I'm going home to visit my parents and sleep over, so I can take my makeup off in the evening, without bringing the whole cleanser/muslin cloth/toner army with me.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish hot cloth cleanser - I think there's no need for an introduction of this product. If you've been reading my blog, you know how much I love this stuff. It's a cream cleanser which melts away makeup, leaving you're skin soft and supple. I use the muslin cloth that comes with it, to remove it and I love how the two work together. An awesome cleanser/makeup remover!

Antipodes Grace gentle cream cleanser - I've got this cleanser recently and used it a couple of times so far. I'll be writing a full review soon, but for now all I can tell you is that I'm not too excited about it.

Yes to tomatoes daily clarifying cleanser - I use this cleanser when I'm in the shower. It smells lovely (that's always a plus, right?). It's a clear gel but when you pour some on a face brush (I'm using the one from L'Occitane) and start massaging it all over your face, it actually lathers up nicely and becomes almost creamy. It's a nice cleanser, but nothing special really and I won't be repurchasing it because it makes my skin feel a bit dry/tight.

From time to time I like to use a scrub and the two that I'm curently using are the Mario Badescu Almond & Honey non-abrasive face scrub and Ole Henriksen Walnut Complexion scrub. The Mario Badescu scrub is really gentle and suitable for even everyday use, whilst the Ole Henriksen is more rough and is you're once-a-week kind of scrub. I love both of them and it doesn't hurt that both have a wonderful, sweet scent to them. :)

I use a couple of toners/solutions. I use the Liz Earle Eyebright soothing eye lotion on my eyes. This solution is really lovely when you have tired/irritated/puffy eyes - it calms them down instantly. I don't use this everyday, but on occasion, when needed. :)

The two toners I use regularly are the Liz Earle Instant Boost skin tonic and Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid toner. I use the Liz Earle tonic on my cheeks/drier areas and Mario Badescu toner on my T-zone (it helps with congested pores, which I have). I love both toners and I think they do their jobs perfectly. :)

The last step is La Roche-Posay Serozinc. I use it as a second toner, if you will, the last step before I put on moisturizer. It's supposed to help with sensitive/acne, breakout prone skin by protecting it from bacteria and other nasty things (zinc sulfate is the key ingredient for this - it is the key ingredient in a lot of creams for baby bottoms, so that kind of makes sense). It protects and calms down the skin. I'll be posting a full review on it very soon.

As I mentioned before, I like to use a face mask at least once a week. I really like using face masks and I actually feel that they can do wonders for my skin (my skin always looks better after I use one). I currently own 4 different face masks. Qeen Helene Mint Julep masque and Avon's Turkish Thermal Baths mask, are both clay masks that are meant to purify/clarify your skin. They are meant for combination/oily/problem skin. Turkish Thermal Baths mask is a really luxurious, spa mask, that smells absolutely divine, whilst Mint Julep is a more hard-core purifying mask - it's a mask I reach for when I have a lot of breakouts/problem skin.

Two recent additions to my mask collection, are Avon Rose mask and Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey mask. I have to be completely honest with you - I haven't had the opportunity to try out the Avon mask yet. It's a moisturizing mask and I've been using mostly my purifying masks, so I just hadn't come around to try it out (I will, soon, I promise). I did however use the Antipodes mask and I really, really like it. It smells gorgeous, feels lovely on the skin and leaves it soft and supple. Full review coming soon. :)

And last but not least are my moisturizers. I use the Liz Earle Daily Eye Repair cream for under/around my eyes. This is my first eye cream and I really like it - it's not too heavy nor too light, it has absolutely no fragrance to it, feels really nice around the eyes and does not sting/bother them. Lovely really.

For my day cream I've been using Mario Badescu Honey Moisturizer. It's a light cream that smells lovely and absorbs quickly into the skin (which I love in a day cream). It doesn't hurt that it's a lovely pink color and is 'stored' in a very handy bottle with a great applicator. :)

For my night cream I've been loving MuLondon Organic White Chocolate Truffle moisturizer. It's a very unique/special kind of moisturizer - it doesn't contain any water or any other 'nasty' ingredients, just natural oils, so it has a more solid, yet kind of whipped formula... lovely. It melts instantly when it touches your skin and you can easily massage it in. Oh, it also smells divine - exactly like white chocolate. :)

So, here they are... All of my current skin care products. What do you think of them, do you use any of them? What are some of your favorite skin care products? Do you have a skin care routine? :)
