theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer

25. marec 2014

Hello lovelies! Today I'd like to show you a gorgeous highlighter from theBalm - Mary-Lou Manizer. :) I've read/heard amazing things about this highlighter, but I was pretty content with my Sleek Contour kit and the highlighter that came in it, so I decided not to get it just yet. A few months ago though, I started seeing it everywhere - on blogs, on YouTube channels,... so when I found it on Feelunique, I just had to grab it. :)

First of all - can we just talk about the packaging for a minute? theBalm seriously does a great job with their packaging - I love the packaging of my Nude'tude palette and now this... it just makes using the product so much more enjoyable and fun. :) The only thing that disappointed me (and not even that really, it's just that I had certain expectations of it), is that the packaging isn't as sturdy or high-quality as I wanted it to be. Now, don't get me wrong... there's absolutely nothing wrong with the packaging, it's not whimsy or really cheep-feeling, but it could be a bit better, let's just leave it at that. :)

The highlighter itself is truly gorgeous. It's a beautiful honey-golden-champagne shade and has a lovely, buttery formula with excellent pigmentation. I've heard a lot of people say it's too shimmery and you have to be really careful with it or you can look like a disco-ball in no time, but I don't agree... you just have to know how to make it work. :) I find that, if I apply it with a brush it does turn out quite shimmery and you can actually see tiny glitter here and there, but if I apply it with my fingers it turns out lovely - it gives a beautiful sheen to the skin that is noticeable, but still looks subtle enough. I wouldn't recommend it to someone that wants a very subtle, barley-there highlighter, because it is visible. It looks gorgeous and maybe not 'natural' but definitely not too much or really 'fake', if you know what I'm trying to say. :)

I'm in love with this highlighter and I'm so happy I finally decided to get it. :) I purchased it on Fellunique.com for 19 €, but the regular price is 20 € (and something).

What are your thoughts on this highlighter? Do you even wear highlighter, which one is your favorite?
