My everyday (most loved) makeup products

29. november 2013

Hello again my lovelies! Today I decided to share my most loved makeup products. These are products I'm loving at the moment and products I tend to use on an 'everyday basis' or rather products I use when I decide to wear makeup (I really don't wear makeup everyday). Along with the makeup I decided to show you the tools I use. I hope you find this post interesting... :)

First and foremost is the base... I've recently bought the Illamasqua Skin Base foundation. I've got a tester and fell in love with it, so I decided to go ahead and get it. It's a really lovely foundation that feels light but has great coverage (a more detailed review will be up next week). I apply it with my new favorite 'beauty tool' - the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge (love this thing). The concealer I'm currently using for my spots and blemishes is Essence Match2 Cover concealer (it's a really decent concealer) and for under my eyes I still use my trusty e.l.f. Tone correcting concealer (I've tried a lot of new concealers lately but none of them have worked for me quite like this one does). :) I use the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease brush to blend out the concealer under my eyes (works perfectly).

For my eyes I love to use e.l.f. Essential Mechanical lash curler (ever since I've discovered this 'magical' tool, I always curl my lashes before applying my mascara). Lately I've been really enjoying the One by One mascara by Maybelline, though I do use the Mega Plush from time to time as well. The liquid eyeliner I've been using (and testing out) is Lashes to die for liner from Peter Thomas Roth (I got this free with one of my purchases at BeautyBay). For my water line, I've been really enjoying the Master Drama khol liner from Maybelline - it's really pigmented, really black and very creamy. :)

For eyeshadow - which I wear every time I wear makeup (I'm not one of those 'mascara and eyeliner' kind of girls), I love to use my trusty Urban Decay Naked palette (my most loved beauty item) and when I'm up for a matte, classic look, I use the UD Naked Basics palette. Of course I use my other eyeshadow palettes as well, but these two are the ones I use and love the most. :) As far as application goes, I use quite a few brushes - I use most of the brushes from the Real Techniques Starter set, for blending I use the brush that came with the UD Naked2 palette (love this brush) and I also use some 'no brand/Ebay' brushes as well. :)

For setting my makeup I've been loving the combination of the Urban Decay De-Slick mattifying powder and the B6 Vitamin-infused complexion prep spray. The powder takes the shine away and sets the foundation beautifuly, the spray gives back a bit of moisture and takes away the 'powdered look', making the skin look really flawless. :) I love to apply the powder with my Real Techniques Powder brush. It's a huge brush that helps you 'cover' big parts of your face, like your cheeks and forehead, but you can also squeeze it with your hands and help it fit nicely around your eyes, nose and mouth.

The finishing touches are of course bronzer, blush and highlighter. I don't apply these 'products' before the setting powder, because I feel the powder kind of 'covers' them, takes away the color. Though I do apply the prep/setting spray after, so I still set everything, in a way. :)

My favorite bronzer at the moment is Too Faced Chocolate Soleil in Milk Chocolate. It's a gorgeous, light-medium bronzer that looks very natural, not orange or muddy at all. And the scent... ahhh. :) I sometimes swap it with the 100% Pure Cocoa pigmented bronzer in Brown sugar, which is a lovely bronzer as well. :) The brush I use to apply the bronzer is a 'no brand/Ebay' kind of brush. It was part of a set I bought years ago (my first makeup brushes). It still looks great and I love it. It's angled/tapered shape really helps with contouring/applying the bronzer exactly where you want it. :)

The blush I've been loving lately is Sleek's Rose Gold (review coming soon). It's a stunning blush that looks like - yes, you've guessed it - rose gold. :) It gives a gorgeous pink sheen to the cheeks. But sometimes, if I'm wearing some really shimmering eyeshadows, I swap this blush with e.l.f.'s Tickled Pink blush, which is basically a matte blush, that gives a tiny bit of a sheen to the cheeks. The brush I love for applying all my blushes, is the Real Techniques Blush brush. At first I thought this brush would be too big for applying blush, but it turned out to be just perfect. :)

Last but not least is the highlighter. I absolutely love the highlighter that comes in the Sleek Contour kit. I kind of neglect the bronzer, but adore the highlighter. It's a lovely highlighter that's not too 'in your face', yet not too subtle - just right. :) I like to apply it on the top of my cheeks, on my cupid's bow, down the nose and on the brow bone (if I don't use any eyeshadow there). The brush that I use to apply it, is the Real Techniques Setting brush. It's a great little brush that's big enough to apply highlighter on the cheeks, yet small enough to easily apply it on the brow bone/cupid's bow as well (also really great for setting your under eye concealer). :)

I usually apply my lipstick last... I forgot to take some pictures of it, but my go-to lipstick at the moment is definitely Urban Decay Revolution lipstick in Naked. It's a lovely, everyday color. When I want something a bit more, I go for Fiend. That reminds me... I need to get some more shades. :D

So, here they are... my most loved, most used makeup items. What do you think of them? What are some of your favorites? :)

NOTW: Essie + Nails Inc

27. november 2013

Hello my lovelies! I haven't posted a manicure in some time... so here's a fresh one for you. I really like how it turned out and I love Grosvenor Gardens, it's such an awesome glitter polish. :) Oh, and sorry for the 'not so flawless' application - I tried to clean up as much as I could. :D

Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat

And here are some pictures... you can't have too much pictures. :D

What do you think of this manicure - like it, love it, hate it? :D

Nails Inc: Grosvenor Gardens

26. november 2013

Hello my lovelies! Today I have another stunning Nails Inc polish for you... Man, Nails Inc really know how to do their glitter right. :) Ever since I bought the Jubilee Crystal Color 3D glitter from them, I knew I had to get more. I was deciding between this one (Grosvenor Gardens) and Royal Arcade, which is also stunning and I think I'll be getting it soon. :)

This nail polish has a clear base and contains a beautiful mixture of pink/rose gold, purple, silver/white and green glitter. The bigger glitter pieces actually change the color/appear to be a different color under a different light, angle - so the glitter may look rose gold from one angle, but purple from another. Lovely, really... The glitter has a hexagonal shape and varies in size. It looks beautiful on the nails, the pictures really don't do it justice! It applies with ease and distributes equally across the nail, no need for dabbing glitter on with the brush.

Bellow you can see how it looks applied on a nail wheel with no base underneath (from left to right: Ciate Antique Brooch, Nails Inc Grosvenor Gardens, Nails Inc Jubilee Crystal Color, OPI The living daylights).

And here's how it looks applied over a white (Essie) and a black (Essence) nail polish. Which is your favorite combination? :)

I think this is a gorgeous nail polish and I know I'll be buying more Nails Inc nail polishes soon... :) I bought this one on BeautyBay for 12.90 €.

What do you think of this nail polish? Do you own any Nails Inc polishes?

Illamasqua event

21. november 2013

Hello my lovelies! Boy, do I have an awesome post for you today... and a picture heavy one as well. :) I was lucky enough to attend an Illamasqua event that took place in one of our Muller drugstores (thank you Tina!). It wasn't so much a presentation of the brand itself (though that too), it was more about using the products from the brand and creating makeup looks with them (beauty and fantasy).

There were several Illamasqua makeup artists there, including Ivana Bilandžija Billy, Mihaela Dodić and Lea Bratušek. And of course, several beautiful models. :) We were mostly 'hanging' around with Billy, watching her create a beautiful fantasy makeup, but at the end, we also took a little peek at Mihaela Dodić's beauty makeup.

I met with my fellow beauty bloggers - Ana Ina (Lovely Little Lux-uries), Živa (Nothin' fancy. Really) and Deja (DejaZu), an hour and a half early so we could grab some coffee and get to know each other (that hour and a half was way too short). Then we came to the drugstore together where we received a warm welcome and some cocktails. There was great music, cocktails, makeup artists, models, makeup, great company... what more could a beauty blogger want?! :D

a great photo of Deja (DejaZu) smiling for the camera :)

After a few cocktails (just kidding)... Billy invited us over to watch her do her magic and ask any questions we had for her. We were mostly just taking photos and admiring her work, than asking any questions, but thankfully Billy was kind enough to explain everything she was doing and also gave some advice, tips and tricks - all whilst she was creating the makeup (she's awesome by the way). :)

She explained that beauty makeup is the base for any fantasy makeup. When asked, if she imagines or draws out a look before creating it, she said that she never does that, she always lets her hands guide her and creates the look step by step, coming up with ideas as she goes. She said she does a certain look, prepares for it or draws it out only, if she's doing it for a fotoshoot or something like that.

She also said that there are no rules or limitation when it comes to fantasy makeup - you can create whatever you like, you can use glitter, paper, false lashes, anything, you can use products that are meant for you lips on the eyes and vice versa, you can wipe away the makeup, if you're not satisfied with it and start over. And the look is not done, until you decide it's done, it can always be altered, upgraded, like an oil painting. :) The sky is your limit!

The thing that I liked the most was when she was talking about fantasy makeup, bold, colorful makeup - she said that women are still very afraid to experiment and play with makeup and colors. She said she doesn't understand how we always like to change our style, color and cut our hair differently, wear accessories, wear different clothes but our makeup tends to stay the same - day after day, like a boring routine.

I couldn't agree more Billy! It's not like I wear a bright yellow eyeshadow with a teal eyeliner to the store every day, but I wouldn't be afraid to do that. I don't care what other people would think of  me - if I like how it looks, I'll wear it! Yes, I do love me some everyday, neutral eyeshadows, but I also love a pop of color or a dark, bold look.

Who said you have to wear a nude lipstick with a smokey eye? Why not a bright one? Why should you always be so careful to balance things out? Sure... if you work at an office that has strict rules about makeup, than I guess you have to be careful, but otherwise... go for it, wear whatever you like, play, explore, have fun, be free, I say! :)

After Billy was done with the makeup (which turned out to be amazing!), she was available for any further questions and she also gave us a chance to jump on her makeup chair. I was of course ecstatic for that opportunity and raised my hand like a first-grader going 'Me, me, me... please me!'. :)

I sat on the chair and she asked me what I had in mind or what I would like her to do and I told her she can do whatever she wanted - I was prepared to become a fairy princess, if need be. :)

The whole time she was doing my makeup I had no idea how it will turn out. I just knew she was going for a strong eyebrow (she said that's her favorite thing to do). I was really happy she went for that, because I never really fill in my brows or define them, I just use an eyebrow gel that gives a bit of color so they're not invisible. :)

yup, yup... that looks really nice :)

I think the finished look was awesome! She did a gorgeous, smokey eye that was kind of gray, kind of blue and a bit of purple as well (stunning really), than of course a strong brown (which I loved, and so did my fellow bloggers) and a lovely, bright lip (see, you don't need a nude). :)

After that, we went to take a peek at the beauty makeup 'corner' and I also picked up Illamasqua Skin Base foundation - I had a sample and loved it so much, I decided to splurge. :) Now I also want some pigments from Illamasqua, the brow cake, concealer, powder, blush... so basically I should declare bankruptcy right now. :D

We then went for another cup of coffee to chat a little bit more. Deja's friend joined us (lovely girl) and we had a lovely time. Unfortunately I had to leave prematurely, but I hope we'll get together again real soon.

All in all it was a great event and a super fun day, I hope there will be many more like this... :)
