Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue Effects lipstick

30. julij 2013

Hello my lovelies! Sorry for the two days off... we were celebrating my nephew's 1st birthday this weekend and I just didn't have the time to sit down and write a post nor did I scheduled any in advance. But no worries... this will not become a habit. :D On to the review part shall we? :)

I bought this Elizabeth Arden lipstick back in May. I was browsing around Feelunique (which is never a good thing since I end up buying something every time) and came across this lipstick. I really wanted to try something from Elizabeth Arden and the shade selection for this particular lipstick really draw me in - gorgeous colors, perfectly suited for fall. But I wear what ever color I want, whenever I want, I really don't follow seasons or trends, so I didn't care that it's summer time and 'threw it' in my shopping bag right away.

After reading a bunch of reviews and seeing some swatches I decided to pick the shade Wood Rose Cream. I purposely chose this color because I didn't have anything like it in my collection - I always gravitate towards pinks, peaches, gentle shades and this one seemed to be darker and a bit more mature. :) And boy did I hit the jackpot with this one... It's a gorgeous shade. I don't really know how to describe it. It's really hard to show you it's true color. In photos it looks eater too red or too pink and it's neater of those. I would say it's a true dark rose color, leaning towards strawberry (it certainly has red/brown in it). A really beautiful and fresh color. :)

I love the packaging - it looks and feels really luxurious (which I think, is pretty typical for Elizabeth Arden). The lipstick itself is very creamy and feels so nice on the lips, not drying at all - you don't need to use a balm underneath. The scent is nice and gentle, but nothing special. The staying power is really good in my opinion, though I really don't mind reapplying lipstick throughout the day and I don't expect it to stay on, if I eat or drink. It also fades really nicely and lightly stains your lips so it doesn't just vanish. It doesn't set in lines but it will extenuate dry flakes/patches (but most lipsticks do that anyway).

The price is pretty high - around the 20 € mark (sometimes a bit over, sometimes a bit less). I think it's actually the most expensive lipstick I bought so far but I think it's worth the money. All in all I'm really happy with it and I'm glad I bought it. I'll probably be picking up some other shades in the near future. :)

(this is the closest I could get to its true color)

What do you think of this lipstick, have you tried it? Do you like to splurge on lipsticks or don't think they're worth it? Which is your favorite one?
