Products that were just a bit... meh

8. junij 2014

Hello lovelies! So, lately I've been seeing a lot of 'Disappointing products' posts on other blogs and was inspired to do one myself. To be honest there aren't really a lot of negative reviews on my blog... I guess I really am mostly fond of everything I purchase (I do really research products before buying them) and I also don't bother to write reviews for some (like products that are just ok or I think aren't really worth mentioning). Today however, I gathered up a few that I had high hopes for and ended up being just... meh. :)

Aussie 3 minute miracle Reconstructor & Luscious Long - I bet you're really surprised to see these two here, since there are mostly just rave reviews for Aussies 3 minute miracle hair treatments. Now, to be fair, I don't think these two products are bad, I just think they aren't anything special. On my hair they preform like any other conditioner I use - sure, my hair is softer and a bit less tangled than if I wouldn't use a conditioner (like if I were to use only shampoo), but that's about it. I don't notice any visible difference, my hair doesn't feel 'reconstructed', super luscious or anything like that. I think these two products or these kind of treatments would work much better on really thick, dry or damaged hair. I have none of those things, so that might be the reason I don't find them to be anything special.

Queen Helene Mud Pack masque - If you've been reading my blog for some time now, you know I'm head over heels for Queen Helene's Mint Julep masque, this mask however, is not my cup of tea. It's very similar to Mint Julep in the sense that it's also a clay-based mask, but it doesn't work as well (since it's a skin-tightening mask, not a blemish-killing one). I wasn't really expecting it to work like Mint Julep, but I was certainly expecting more from it. It's just your typical clay mask with an awful old, grandma-like, rose scent.

Antipodes Grapeseed Butter cleanser - I love Antipodes as a brand and I enjoy many of their products, this one however was a bit of a let down. I was expecting to use this butter as a cleanser/makeup remover and it doesn't really work either way. As a cleanser I find it too rich and I'm not really fond of the slightly oily film it leaves behind, even after I use a washcloth to remove it (though it hasn't caused me any breakouts or other skin problems). As a makeup remover it just doesn't do the job - it will remove all your face makeup, but fails miserably at removing eye makeup and that's just not something I'm ready to put up with. :) It does feel great massaging it onto my skin and it smells lovely, but it just doesn't do it for me.

Maybelline Colossal Go extreme! Volum' mascara - The new mascara from Maybelline I purchased on a whim (and look at me, bragging before how I really research products before buying them). :) I tend to really get along with Maybelline's mascaras, thought I have noticed that I have hits and misses - the 'original' Colossal started to irritate my eyes, the Mega Plush was kind of ok (loved the light formula), One by one was awesome, The Rocket has become one of my favorites, this one is just... meh. It does add a bit of volume and length to my tiny lashes (as do all Maybelline mascaras), but not enough and I end up looking like I barely have any mascara on, which is not the look I'm going for. I don't know if it's the formula or the brush (which looks very similar to the Mega Plush), but something just isn't working for me. My lashes seem to benefit most from plastic brushes/bristles, because I had the best results with One by one and now with The Rocket. :)

So, here you have them... Do you use any of these products, how do you get along with them? :)
