Mario Badescu Drying lotion

5. marec 2014

Hello darlings! Today I'd like to talk to you about a new skin care item that has changed my life for the better... well, maybe I'm exaggerating just a tiny bit, but it really is an awesome product - I'm talking about the Mario Badescu Drying lotion or as I like to call it - 'The pimple killer'. :)

This little magical bottle really preforms miracles on your skin. I tend to have pretty good skin but I do get occasional hormonal breakouts or just random breakouts due to some clogged pores or something like that. In all these cases I want the pimples gone and I want them gone fast. I'm one of those people that just can't leave a pimple/zit alone - if it's squeezable, it has to go, simple as that. :) The problem with poking, squeezing and other methods of torturing your skin to pop a zit, is that usually you create even more damage and your poor skin takes even longer to heal. Or sometimes the pimple will just form again and again - that's usually because you introduced bacteria and other nastiest into the open wound that was/is your zit (we just can't leave the damn things alone, can we?). And here's where this wonderful product springs in action - it will literally kill a zit over night. Every single time I've used this on a blemish/zit it has destroyed it (Terminator style!). I kid you not! But it doesn't just work on open wounds/zits, it works great on those that are still forming as well.

I used to love my Queen Helene Mint Julep masque as a spot treatment, but this thing works even better. I also love the whole process of applying it and the fact that the clay/Calamine is pink (can I be more girly?). You're greeted by quite a strong scent when you open the bottle (kind of like alcohol, but a bit different) and that's not surprising since the orange-yellow solution is actually Salicylic acid. And because of this acid (and maybe some other ingredients as well) it will burn a bit upon application, if you have an open wound (it doesn't burn, if you're applying it on a forming zit, for example). But it burns just for a second, then everything calms down.

This special combination/mixture of Salicylic acid and Calamine is not meant to be shaken/mixed together. To apply this 'concoction' you have to take a cotton bud and dip it into the bottom of the bottle so you get some clay/Calamine on the tip of it, plus the cotton bud itself already gets soaked in Salicylic acid as it enters the bottle. Then you just pull it out and apply it directly onto the pimple/blemish. It dries almost instantly and begins working it's magic whilst at the same time, it also creates a kind of barrier so nothing else gets inside the wound. I usually apply the lotion before bed and leave it to work through the night, then rinse it off in the morning.

This really is an amazing spot treatment so if you're on the look for a new one I highly recommend it. It will last you a long time since you only need a little of it every time you apply it. The bottle costs around 18 € on BeautyBay.com but you can also get it in a set (like I did).

I'm really loving all my Mario Badescu products, especially this lotion and the Glycolic acid toner - amazing stuff. Have you tried anything from Mario Badescu, what are your thoughts on the brand? :)

    1. I really don't think it's that strong. As I've said - if you have an open wound (if you just finished torturing your skin) then it will burn slightly upon application, but that's just for a second. It's not harsh on the skin at all...
